One of the most unexpected aspects of the Amazing Spider-Man reboot was replacing love interest Mary Jane Watson with Spidey’s less well-known lady love Gwen Stacy. Especially because unlike the redheaded MJ who seems to always end up with Peter Parker — except for that storyline where they change history — Gwen doesn’t make it.
Even though Gwen officially died in The Amazing Spider-Man #121 (an issue from 1973), I only just learned of her unfortunate death. Here’s how it happens: The Green Goblin kidnaps Peter’s girlfriend Gwen and holds her as bait to lure Spider-Man. The Goblin hurls Gwen off the Brooklyn Bridge, and Peter shoots out some webbing to catch her by the foot. But when he pulls her back up, he discovers that the whiplash from him stopping her in mid-air snapped her neck.
The shocking twist signaled one of the first instances in comics where a hero had failed so utterly. And imagine Peter’s guilt! It’s bad enough that Uncle Ben dies because of his inaction; Gwen’s untimely end comes when he actually tries to save her, in typical Spidey fashion. (Furthermore, he’s caught himself in the same way without much injury, because his super-strength allows him to brace himself the way a normal human couldn’t.)
Ellen asked her Twitter followers if they had any questions for Emma Stone, and after the show, Jeannie asked Emma a few of them backstage! What would Emma do if she were Beyonce for a day?
In a recent interview, Emma sayd she didn’t really wanted to be part of the cast of The Amazing Spiderman – but changed her mind when she auditioned:
“I heard about Spider-Man and I didn’t think it was something I would want to be a part of. I just thought that probably isn’t right for me. Then I [auditioned with Andrew Garfield] and realised that this was a really interesting, fantastic relationship between two people and that I was being really closed-minded,” she said.
The actress, who wore her naturally blonde hair for the part, went on to discuss how her character finally changed her mind about the film: “[I] started learning more about Gwen Stacy and her history and just fell in love with the character and with the fans, too. I started reading forums and getting involved more in the comic book universe and it just became something I really wanted to be a part of, just because of all those elements.”
On 4 October 2011, The Help director Tate Taylor was joined by actors Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Emma Stone at BAFTA in London. In this Q&A hosted by journalist Angie Errigo; Taylor tells the story of how he convinced Kathryn Stockett, his childhood friend and author of the original novel, to let him adapt and direct her story. The film’s stars discuss what it’s like to play characters from another era, and answer questions about the film’s representation of race, its international reception, and how it differs from the book version.
Nominated in 2012 for: Best Film, Adapted Screenplay, Leading Actress and Supporting Actress

When it was announced earlier this summer that Emma Stone would become Revlon’s latest brand ambassador, it made perfect sense. The 23 year-old actress, who starred in just about every major blockbuster this summer including “The Help” And “Crazy Stupid Love”, isn’t afraid of makeup. Or changing her hair color for that matter. She’s gone from red to blonde to red again more times than we can count, and she pretty much jumpstarted the hot pink lipstick phenomenon we now see on everyone, everywhere. We chatted with Stone to get her thoughts on beauty icons, self tanning disasters and an intense Diane Keaton obsession.
You’re a big champion of the pink lipstick trend. I’d even say a pioneer. What are your favorite shades?
I didn’t know I was a champion; I’m honored. A pioneer… like Annie Oakley! I never know the shade name so it would be hard to tell you my favorite, but I love fuchsias and really, really bright pinks that’s for sure.Have you always preferred pinks over reds? When did that become your thing?
Recently, I’ve been going for more pinks than reds, I think. I love red lipstick, but I think it’s kind of more modern with the corals and the pinks. The variations on red have been fun to play with, and it’s something different every time.
There’s a new interview of Emma, where she talks a little about Revlon, make up and her red hair, check it out!
Since bursting on the scene in 2007′s Superbad, Emma Stone has truly made a name for herself. Not only has she hosted Saturday Night Live twice, she’s also been nominated for a Golden Globe and is currently receiving plenty of Oscar buzz for her turn in The Help. Now, Emma has a whole new role: a global ambassador for Revlon. But when it comes down to it, Emma is just as down to earth and awesome as you’d expect. From her first attempts at makeup to how she inadvertently became a redhead, find out this and more when you keep reading.
BellaSugar: How did you get involved with Revlon?
Emma Stone: Well, they approached me, which was pretty wild and mind-boggling. As I researched the company and looked into it, I realized that this has always been my mom’s favorite makeup brand, so I already knew a lot about Revlon. It’s an incredibly iconic brand. Then, looking into what they’ve done for breast cancer, that’s what made it a no-brainer to want to be involved. They’ve raised so much money for breast cancer research and have done so much with the Run/Walk. Then there’s their involvement in Look Good… Feel Better, and all of these incredible organizations that have to do with breast cancer. So I was in!
