Emma ranked #37 on the 2012 list of FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World. On the list, you can see she appears above women such as Jennifer Lawrence, Olivia Wilde, Emma Watson, Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima and even Beyonce. To see the full list, go here.
At the 2012 Oscars the familiar red-carpet stunners once again delivered knockout performances, but many fresh-faced newcomers also impressed with their fearless fashion choices. Whether opting for red, winter-white haute couture, or basic black tie, it’s clear this year’s best dressed all deserve a standing ovation.

A look back at 2011′s most — and least — impassioned moments in cinema. Each year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences gives out a bunch of awards. Here at Nerve, we also have an annual award show, more modestly confined to matters of the heart/loins. Welcome to the third annual Nerve Awards for Love & Sex on Film.
Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in Crazy, Stupid, Love
When Emma Stone’s fast-talking Hannah first sees the bare chest of ladykiller supreme Jacob (Ryan Gosling), she laughs in disbelief at his too-perfect physique: “Seriously? It’s like you’re Photoshopped!” It’s a great moment not just because it actually makes an incredibly fit person self-conscious about their body for a change, but also because it’s the start of one of those rare relationships where emotional nakedness (achieved piece-by-piece in a charming all-night gabfest) becomes way sexier than a simple baring of skin. — A.O.
Runners-up: Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska in Jane Eyre, Ewan McGregor and Melanie Laurent in Beginners, Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz in Bad Teacher, Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo in The Artist, Owen Wilson and Marion Cotillard in Midnight in Paris.
SEXIEST PERFORMANCE, FEMALE
Emma Stone in Crazy, Stupid, Love
Unlike many of the bimbos (of both genders) who’ve been touted as sex symbols lately, Emma Stone seems almost too smart for someone so young, and she has a way of bringing the idiot out in people who are old enough to know better. (When Jim Carrey embarrassed himself with that “joking” declaration of love on YouTube, a lot of men were simultaneously appalled and glad that they hadn’t had easy access to a camera the last time they watched one of her movies.) In Crazy, Stupid, Love, Stone manages to get your heart beating faster in a bedroom scene where the boy and girl have so much fun talking and kidding around that they forget to have sex; we are in the presence of sex-symbol royalty. — P.N.
Runners-up: Elena Anaya in The Skin I Live In, Mila Kunis in Friends With Benefits, Emily Browning in Sleeping Beauty, Carla Gugino in Sucker Punch, Bérénice Bejo in The Artist.
WHY IS EMMA STONE NO. 6?
We can’t blame Jim Carrey for his creepy proclamations of love for Emma Stone. With her disarming smile and raspy voice, the fiery redhead inspires that kind of devotion in a lot of men. In Crazy, Stupid, Love, Stone played a girl so completely perfect that she drove a career playboy to give up the game. The role really wasn’t much of a stretch. When she’s not causing men twice her age to record video testimonials or players to rethink their life plan, the star of the Oscar-nominated The Help is impressing us with her comedic timing and laid-back attitude. So, yeah, Jim, we like her, too.
EMMA STONE IN A NUTSHELL
I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT I THINK YOU’RE ALL THE WAY BEAUTIFUL. NOT JUST PRETTY, BUT, YOU KNOW, SMART AND KINDHEARTED. AND IF I WERE A LOT YOUNGER, I WOULD MARRY YOU, AND WE WOULD HAVE CHUBBY LITTLE FRECKLED FACED KIDS.
ANDREW GARFIELD AND EMMA STONE
The matchup of The Amazing Spider-Man costars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone might be one of the most disgustingly darling pairings we could ever dream up (big ups to the Spider-Man casting director *head nod*). What makes this work so well, from a fashion standpoint, is their gender-specific interpretations of a similar idea: a delicate straddle between classic and fashion-forward. And the best part? They even look good IN THE WILD (i.e., sans stylist). We’re obsessed with the side-by-side of Andrew in these autumnal layers (henley + tailored shirt + button-up hoodie + leather-sleeved varsity jacket + burgundy cords + mahogany shoes) and Emma in her cozy hidden placket camel coat with light tortoise shell sunnies and equestrian riding boots. *hearts*
#4: Emma Stone
One of 2010′s breakout stars, Stone cemented her status as one of the most popular young actresses on the scene with back-to-back roles in The Help, where she held her own alongside Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer, and Crazy, Stupid, Love, where she held her own against Ryan Gosling’s abs. Next up: potential blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man.
